"So last night a bunch of my brother's friends came over. Mid way through the night, they asked to "see something" and one of the guys had his own deck of red-backed bicycles. He said he "came prepared" for me so I couldn't cheat. I excused myself to the restroom for a moment and while headed that direction, stopped by my bedroom to grab some coins for later. I had a loop on my arm from earlier in the day, but it was too bright to pull that off. I noticed my hovercard gimmick in my case and realized it had been a while since I'd performed it---so I pocketed it as well.
I came back out, did an ACR, ended with the pop-up move, and handed them the card. While they were holding it, I loaded my gimmick.
I kept playing with other random card "stuff" for one more trick and then did the hovercard effect. It was HIS deck, and the card was floating. His mouth just fell open. After floating the card, I handed out the card to one person and the deck to another, ditching the gimmick in the process.
The previews to hovercard never grabbed me. I never got overly excited about it...and that's to be expected. We're all gonna like different things. It just didn't impress me. I bought it anyway thinking I'd play with it some and experiment, but I never really did much with it. I just didn't like it. I never really did much with the hovercard gimmick because it just didn't impress ME that much. I think I underestimated how much it impresses others.
THAT was the effect everyone was talking about when they were leaving. I've got a newfound respect for it. That being said, I don't know what made me grab it last night...but I'm glad I did.

"What can I say, Brad is simply the best. The real gems in the DVD is not simply how to perform the effect but the detailed teaching Brad goes into on controlling your audience, the importance of practice, and angle management. He covers every possible detail and leaves nothing to chance. I have other DVD’s by well known magicians but that does not mean they are automatically great teachers. Brad has a unique gift to teach that so far is unmatched by anyone in my DVD collection. Brad really drives the point home on the importance of practice and how to get to the point where you can present the effect and the real work (if you have practiced, practiced, practiced) is doing the actual presentation. One more quick point, Brad goes over a very simple spectator control that will allow you to manage your audience and keep them from going after your cards or rushing in to see what is going on."

"I use the effect and like it a lot. It’s in my own personal video demo (I like it that much). At the right moment it’s a killer illusion that looks superior to over-exposed card-on-a-string methods. The motion is great and the levitation adds a dimension not seen in other close-up levitations."
