<![CDATA[Tricks and DVDs]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/tricks Tue, 28 Apr 2015 15:58:22 +0000 Zend_Feed http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss <![CDATA[WINDOW by David Stone]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/window-by-david-stone.html There are six routines given in the DVD but you'll come up with your own. The premise behind Window is simple. A selected card penetrates the glass, then changes into a different selected card whilst still behind the glass. This is completely hands off - there is no possible way you can get to the card on the other side of the glass - but it still magically changes.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. Where Can I Perform this?
A. You can perform Window on the Windscreen of a car, through a shop Window, on sliding glass doors, in a glass elevator - wherever there is a pane of glass that you can safely reach, you can perform Window. *You will need to be able to get to the OTHER side of the Glass in order to hand the selected card back to the Spectator - but the harder it is to do this, the more impossible the effect will seem to your audience.

Q. Do I need anything else to perform this?
A. No. There’s a beautiful hand-made gimmick INCLUDED, so you can perform straight out of the box. You will need tape to stick it onto the Window, and David teaches a number of different performance ideas that use items like a regular Red Bicycle Deck, Windex (window cleaner) and a cloth etc - you can see where we're going with this.

Q. How hard is WINDOW?
A. Easier than Tarantula but harder than the Ball & Vase. You won’t have problems. There are several ways to perform the effect. In the most difficult routine you do a force and a top change. In the easiest you simply make the card change behind glass.

Q. How complicated is the reset on this?
A. The reset is instant.

Q. How complicated is the gimmick?
A. As far as using it goes - not at all. If you can use sticky-tape and wave your hand, you can perform Window. The gimmick itself takes does all the work for you, with David Stone taking an hour and a half to manufacture one himself by hand... Ok. David Stone doesn't really make the gimmicks himself, he's too busy performing the trick to people who pay good money to see him. Your hand-made gimmick constructed by his team will be included in your package though, no worries.

Q. Why perform this behind glass? Isn't it just a color change?

A. Pick which way gets 20 times the reaction. The Erdnase change above, or doing the exact same thing to a card with a massive pane of glass in the way. That's why it's done behind Glass. The full routine (below) shows just how impressive this effect really is.

""David showed this to me at the 4F convention this past April. He not only tipped the method, but let me PLAY with it. WOW! This is so cool and there are so many variations possible with it. I wanted to buy one on the spot, but I had to wait like everyone else. Er, David?"
~ Marc DeSouza, top magic pro.

THE ROUTINE

Click play to watch Window in action from start to finish.

WE SAY

Can you imagine doing the standard "Here, Then There" effect where a card in the spectator's hand changes with one in yours ------- and then telling them you are going to PROVE IT so you do it again but this time one of the cards is BEHIND GLASS and you can still do it?

Remember that feeling when you very first saw Copperfield? GET READY TO FEEL IT.

When Jean Luc and David sent this over to us, we watched in amazement and suddenly felt like we were children. We DID NOT want to know how it was done so we could hold on to that giddy feeling.

What sent us reeling was the twist, never has there been such an added visual change behind glass involved in any Card Through Window. It pretty much wrecked us.

We love this effect and promote it with all our heart and soul.

~ Jason B.

Immediately, with no hesitation, you let the coin fall into their hands for full, complete examination. Unless you're performing for Chuck Norris*, they won't be able to bend the coin a single bit. Use a quarter, dime, penny, half-dollar - anything.

Let the spectator keep the coin - let them take it home as a souvenir. They'll remember you for years to come.A mind-blowing, brilliant release by Roy Kueppers that will allow you to fool YOURSELF when performing it in the mirror.

<![CDATA[Stay Cool by Tobias Dostal]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/stay-cool-by-tobias-dostal.html

But Stay Cool is more than just a production of sunglasses. Through months of refining and late nights spent with product engineers, we have developed a triple-change that delivers a one-two magic combination. The production of Green Framed Sunglasses changes to Yellow Framed Sunglasses with a wave of the hand. Another wave, and the glasses have changed to Black.

The sunglasses may immediately be handed out for inspection - but there’s really no need. Instead, finish your spectator's drink for them, yell ‘Whoooooooo! Deal with It!’ and walk out with a spring in your step. It’s easy to see why Tony Chang calls this his new favorite trick.

STORIES
- Tony Chang joined us for the filming of Stay Cool in Brooklyn and had a few things to say about possibilities in performance... although we'd recommend you take his advice with a grain of salt.

COMMITMENT
- The key to Stay Cool is commitment. Like anything in life, 99% of it is about the attitude you adopt. Tony has us in stitches as he explains his ideas on attitude and truly committing to your performance.

PSYCHOLOGY - Tony discusses why Stay Cool is so effective - that its kitsch, unexpected nature punches through the bubble that people hide themselves in, and allows you to develop instant rapport with your audience. The perfect combination of magic and comedy.

Tobias spends nearly an hour teaching variation after variation for the Stay Cool production, with inspiration taken from classic comic legends - everyone from Buster Keaton to Marcel Marceau.

Filmed in the Ellusionist HQ Brooklyn Studio with live performances shot during the Open-to-the-Public Studio Party, Stay Cool contains everything you need to absolutely OWN any room you walk into.

<![CDATA[Smiley by Laurent Mikelfield]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/smiley-by-laurent-mikelfield.html

"Now THAT'S a breakfast!"
The Ellusionist team stepped off a plane to Paris for the first time ever. They were dragged to the city of love by what they had seen across the Internet.

Would we go all that way for something mediocre? You bet not.

We filmed four projects over there, amidst an avalanche of croissants, excellent coffee, and checking out good looking french women. We rented a studio and lived at the studio while we were filming. Our view was of Notre Dame about a block away, and the Eiffel T in the distance.

How much fun it was discussing and working on these effects with our wonderful French counterparts. You realize they have some superb workers over there don't you?

"Magic Dream Magic Shop. Best ever."
We sat with the underground legend Bebel in a seedy out of the way diner, watching him do things with cards we only dreamed of. We saw magic theater shows - amazing! We sessioned with many top pros, Eric knows all of them. And we saw the best magic shop in the world (guess which one?).

But best of all, we filmed SMILEY. And smile we did. We all love this trick and we think it will become a classic of sorts. You NEED fast, clean working effects that you can bust out anytime. This one works like a CHARM.

"Filming with Bebel in the Pigalle district"

The gimmick takes time and care to build, but WE build it FOR you, and we wanted to give you TWO just to be sure. But a single gimmick will last hundreds and hundreds of performances.

We encourage you to go for the Buy button on this one, believe us, you won't regret it. You'll be too busy having a blast performing this wunderkind of a trick and, well... smiling your pants off!

Er, have a nice day. Merci! ☺

<![CDATA[Shift Self Bending Paperclip]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/shift-self-bending-paperclip.html - ]]> Tue, 28 Apr 2015 15:58:22 +0000 <![CDATA[Shift Self Bending Key]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/shift-self-bending-key.html The key itself has been manufactured from a patented alloy, similar to the Self Bending Fork, and will stay in its 'set' condition, even hanging on your key chain - so you're ready to perform at a moment's notice. The Fork works in the same way as the Key and is perfect for more formal situations. Get the Shift: Self Bending Fork, here.

The above video shows just how powerful the Shift Metal Bending System really is - and how easy it is to perform. Whilst the Shift Fork is used in the above video (because of the Diner setting) the Shift Key uses the exact same principle - it's like a pocket-sized Shift Fork.

Shift: Self Bending Key activates it's bending movements using ONLY your spectator's body heat. You can manipulate the molecules of metal without touching the key as is slowly bends in open view.

In a breakthrough of technology, Shift: Self Bending Key is the lowest priced self bending metal effect in history. Not to mention the ONLY engineered the gimmick to stay straight in room temperature UNTIL you place it inside the spectator's hands.

Shift will remain unbent, unnoticed, and unassuming until the moment you place it into the spectator's hands. From that moment on, your work is done and the real phenomenon begins.

You now have the tool for a surreal performance. A physical impossibility is now within your reach.

"People are truly going to lose their minds over this. A key is INCREDIBLY practical." - Joel Bauer, Top Pro

"I thought the self bending fork was off the chain, the key is so much better." - Anthony Brown, Salem NJ

"Please let me perform this before anyone else!." - Eric Ross Top Pro

IMPORTANT: This is NOT an opening effect. If you perform this as your first trick, make it your ONLY trick, because NOTHING can follow Shift. Your spectators will look at you through new eyes, so why go perform a card trick after something like this? Shift is your "coup de grace" effect. No effect is more, fair, unbelievable or convincing.

<![CDATA[Raven Classic]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/raven-classic-coin-vanish-trick.html

The boy is on his way home from school when he is stopped by the magician and asked if he'd like to see something. When the boy says YES the magician asks for a quarter. Placing it on the back of the boy's hand he asks the boy to be stilll. The magician simply waves his hand over the coin and suddenly it is no longer visible on the boy's hand. It is gone, and both of the magician's hands are empty. The magician didn't touch the coin but the boy could FEEL it disappear off his hand.

This is the devastating work of Chuck Leach who developed and created the Raven, a stunning prop that allows you to cause the mysterious and explosive disappearance of a nickel, quarter, and other small objects - even while wearing a short sleeve shirt.

We confidently say that it's one of the best investments you can make in the world of street magic.

Includes shell nickel, tiny nickel, hand crafted Raven gimmick and full instruction booklet including photographs of each step you must take to learn the illusion. Can be learned in about an hour or so.

<![CDATA[Money by Lloyd Barnes]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/money-by-lloyd-barnes.html With no cover, no hand-switching, no fancy origami and no stacks of bills to hide behind, a single dollar bill changes into a ten - or even a hundred - in the blink of an eye.

In his newest release, ‘Money’, Lloyd Barnes has created what could possibly be called the most stunning bill change we've ever seen.

When Team Ellusionist saw this effect on video, we were practically falling over each other to get Lloyd on the phone. When he demonstrated it live for us - we knew we had to have it. Clean. Pure. Direct. 'Money' is everything great magic should be.

*** NOTE: Contact Ellusionist Support to purchase additional gimmicks ***

Use any currency, and denomination - or (as demonstrated in the trailer) let your imagination run wild and change other items into money:

• Instantly cash in a winning lotto or scratch ticket.
• Get a refund from a receipt.
• Show how you ‘saved money’ using a voucher.
• Cash a check without the bank.
• Perform the change in a spectator's hands...

Lloyd answers questions and demonstrates various methods

The method for this effect leaves the change entirely up to you. With nearly TWO HOURS of teaching, multiple handlings, tips, performance ideas, switches and changes, Money leaves no doubt that Lloyd Barnes has thought about every possible detail when it comes to his effect.

Lloyd’s signature style places the beauty of the magic before anything else - however, the simplicity, practicality and ease of this change proves that nothing has been compromised - and the name 'Lloyd Barnes' could just be the newest 'one to watch'.

Add it to cart, today.

Note: Shortly after we teased Lloyd Barnes’ ‘Money' across our social media, we found another company was quick to pre-release what appears to be a very similar effect. However, they are not the same. Due to the different method of this other effect, you are limited to very few handlings. ‘Money' does not have these restrictions, with the precision gimmick allowing a plethora of handlings – including having the change happen in the spectator’s hand – as seen in the trailer. Money can also be performed with other currencies, different sized bills and even other objects (again - as shown in the trailer).

<![CDATA[KuKarate Coin]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/kukarate-coin.html

Master Coinsmith Roy Kueppers has taken the original Karate Coin concept and given it his signature, refined-yet-epic take. Fashioned from a pristine Kennedy Half Dollar, each tear in the coin is carefully machined and turned by hand, producing a puncture that looks like a bullet hole - or more accurately - like it's just been punched through with your finger.

The majority of other Karate Coins we've seen on the market are mass produced, simply cross-scored and pushed through, leaving an ugly, clearly manufactured hole - to the point where you'd have a hard time convincing anyone your finger produced it. The KuKarate coin is without a doubt one of the best Coin Gimmicks we've ever seen.

Shot on location at San Quentin Federal Prison and at Ellusionist's West Coast Studios, FRAUD is Daniel Garcia at his best.

Jam-packed with street performances and detailed instruction, Garcia leaves no rock unturned.

The beauty of FRAUD is its simplicity. A spectator's signed, borrowed bill and your hands - that's it. At the end, they are left with their signed bill still in hand-- visibly altered in a manner they know is impossible.

The seal on the signed bill is pushed from one side of the bill all the way to the other.

Start clean. End clean. They can examine your hands, the bill, and the Sharpie to their heart's content. There's nothing to do but take their bill home with them and start showing it to people.

Garcia previously gave this to a few trusted friends. Now he gives it to you in the Ellusionist-produced DVD

<![CDATA[Kaos Card Through Window]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/kaos-card-through-window.html Creator Sean beard has happened upon a gem of visual magic that allows you to pull a card through glass with no setup.

You tap on the cold, hard glass to emphasize the impossible nature of what is going to take place. You lower your hands and seemingly begin to extract one card-- slowly-- from the scatter that the spectator is pressing against on the other side. To the spectators, it actually looks as if the card is sticking half way out of the glass... it takes genuine effort to pull it through.

There is a reason we call it Surgical Card Through Window. It looks like slow surgery on a plain slab of glass. The card is SLOWLY turned over-- it is in fact their signed, selected card on the other side of the window.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Because when you turn that card over you are going to be watching one.

"... she told me she could feel me reach through the glass."
- Brent, Halifax, N.S.

" Nothing compares to it ... an absolutely wonderful, wonderful masterpiece."
- Dave Wiltrout : Valencia, PA

" Sean Beard has come up with THE perfect card through window. Sean, my friend... you sir, are a genius. "
- Sean : Orlando, FL

<![CDATA[Surge]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/surge-by-mickael-chatelain.html Mickael Chatelain surges onto the scene in his Ellusionist debut.
A 3-phase telekinetic time-bomb that puts the power of psychokinesis in your spectators hands!

*Phase 1*
Balance a freely selected card upright on the table, and with nothing else, cause it to fall over on your command.

*Phase 2*
Well you could have just blew it right? WRONG. To prove your newly-acquired powers are real (not just air), you place their card against the card box, and cause it to again fall down under your influence.

*Phase 3*
They've seen the magic. Now they can FEEL it!
The spectator signs their selection and a corner is torn from it. Under James Randi-esque conditions, you can cause the corner to fly off their hand, finally proving that psychokinetic phenomenon is REAL.

When you place your order for Surge we will send out the specially handcrafted gimmicks via mail. The detailed explanation portion of Surge is available as a download and will be instantly added to your account.

- Custom-made gimmick with 4 replacements included
- Gimmicks come in red or blue, sorry no choice of color
- No wires, thread or magnets
- Minimal sleight of hand required
- Nothing in your hands

<![CDATA[City Prediction for iPhone by Soma]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/city-prediction-for-iphone.html

Thousands of copies downloaded. City Prediction is the MUST-HAVE app of 2015.

A world-class prediction effect that you carry on you at all times.

The issue with most Apps is that the magic happens on the magicians’ phone.

City prediction allows you to borrow a spectators iPhone or iPad, casually set a prediction on Apple Maps, and then create miracles.

Here's how it works… You borrow a phone from your audience member, and set a prediction on their phone with Apple maps.... it's placed face-down in their hand.

From this moment on, you NEVER touch their phone again

They freely name ANY city, street address or anything you can search for on a map in the world. No pre-show work, force or stooge. It can literally be any city, no matter how obscure it is… Without any voice recognition or sleight of hand, the spectator turns over their phone to find a pin placed in the exact city they named.

The app store download includes a video guide, and set of notes to take you from 'good magician' to miracle-maker. So easy.

*Please Note: You will need to own an iPhone or iPad to perform City Prediction*

 • Works with any iPhone or iPad with iOS8+
 • Borrow the damn phone, son. Borrow it.
 • No voice recognition, force, or pre-show work
 • No sleight of hand required
 • Nothing is installed on the spectator's device
 • Perfect for close-up, stage or any casual performance
NOTE: You must FIRST purchase the app and download it to YOUR personal iPhone. Once properly set up you can then borrow anyones iPhone to perform City Prediction.

<![CDATA[The Gaff System]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/gaff-system-madison-morelli-jones.html

This is where the Gaff System differs from other decks; within are 15 separate effects that for any other project would be sold as standalone products - but with our mission to create the most insane gaff deck ever, we combined them all into this ONE deck.

From a torn and restored card that melts back together in a unique and unexplainable way, to a chosen card becoming a chapstick in a spectator’s hands. Each effect in this system is a worker. There is no room for ‘filler’. Each card placed in the deck has been carefully considered against a ‘wait-list’ of other effects to determine whether it TRULY belonged.

When we took the finalised artwork to USPCC we were told that the Gaff System could not be made. The photo realism of some of the cards in the deck used too many colors for the printers to handle, and cards like the ‘Chaptrick’ had them worried - because it looked ‘so much’ like a real Chapstick it sent their legal department scurrying.

Undeterred, we found our own printer who not only matched the feel of the cards in the deck to those in the Artifice Deck - but printed with such high quality that even Mike Clarke, who created the graphics for the deck, was impressed.

15 Unbelievable Effects. 3 Superstars of Magic. 1 Incredible Project. This is, The Gaff System.

The Superstars

CALEN MORELLI

Since his first release ‘Clench’ with Ellusionist, Calen’s gone on to do some pretty amazing things. Things like ‘Consulting for David Blaine, David Copperfield and Dynamo’. Serious credentials. Calen's style is organic magic, effects that challenge people’s understanding of everyday objects - and it’s this bending of reality that he brings to the Gaff System.

Taught by Calen Morelli : Mismade Jack | Chaptrick | TRNT | Shadowplay | Meld

DANIEL MADISON

As Creative Consultant for Ellusionist, Daniel Madison utilises his creative flair, studies in deception, and hard-earned experience to deliver remarkable effects to our catalogue. Daniel’s signature releases are used by a who’s-who of magic. It's Daniel's unique blend of 'impossible objects' and 'impossible occurrences' that makes his effects stand out in this set.

Taught by Daniel Madison : Angle Z | Half Vanish | Magnify | Peek Box

ERIC JONES

Although best known for his work with coins, Eric Jones’s card work is finessed and elegant - a trait that underlines the effects Eric brought to the Gaff System. In this DVD, Eric builds on the work of Larry Jennings, Marlo, Erdnase, Hugard and Braue to deliver four effects with style and grace rarely seen in gaffed card magic.

Taught by Eric Jones : Hoarders | Morph | Side Effect | On Point .

In the Box

The Gaff System consists of 2 parts - the Artifice Gaff Deck and the two-disc Gaff System DVD. While they are available separately, the deck by itself is only sold as a ‘refill’ - as without prior purchase of the DVD you will not know how to use the deck.

Containing 54 cards utilised for 15 effects (listed below) and tailored for use with the Green, Blue or White Artifice decks - including vital extras of those cards you’re likely to be giving away - the Artifice Gaff Deck is the backbone of this system.

The two-disc DVD set contains over three hours of performances, teaching, invaluable advice and real world tips from the guys who actually created the effects - and know the potential of these as hard-hitting pieces of magic. Calen Morelli takes to Venice Beach to share the newly created magic of the Gaff System, and astonishes crowd after crowd with these tricks...

The Effects

MisMade Jack... The printing on a single playing card moves with the wave of the hand - twice - leaving the spectator with an impossible object - a misprinted Jack. This effect is so visual, even Peter McKinnon flipped out during the filming of the explanation.

Chaptrick... When we shared this video on social media, our Facebook exploded - nearly 400 shares and 1800 likes on this trick alone. The card chosen by a spectator vanishes from the deck - only to appear in the Chapstick they’ve been holding the whole time.

TNRT... This is Brad Christian’s favorite of all the effects on the Gaff System. The clearly torn flap of a tuck-box restores with a rub of the finger. Hyper visual - and totally unexplainable.

Shadowplay... Who hasn’t used the light on a camera phone to navigate through the shadows at night? In this trick, Calen uses the light to produce a shadow on a playing card - a shadow that stays fixed, even when the finger that made it is taken away.

Meld...A Torn and Restored Card effect that restores in the spectator’s hands… but not the way you’d think. Four clearly torn pieces are placed in the outstretched hands of the spectator, only to meld together in a misshapen stack.

Hoarders... Four Kings are placed into a card box and three selections lost in the deck. When the card box is opened again - the selections are seen sandwiched between the Kings. With a pinch, the Kings disappear - leaving only the selections behind - and the Kings? Face up, in the middle of the deck.

Morph... This is how a color change really should look. A single card morphs back and forth between a Queen and a Four, with a wave of the hand before being handed back to a spectator, one card - completely changed.

Side Effect... An effect where your imagination is the only limit. The writing on the side of a deck of cards changes with a wave of the finger. Anything from ‘Your Card is’ changed to ’Three of Hearts’ through to ‘Happy Birthday’ changed to ‘(Spectator’s Name)’. Great for conveying a personal message - or using as an ‘Impromptu Magic 8 Ball'.

On Point... A chosen card is lost in the deck, and the Artifice Joker enlisted to help find it. With a flutter of the card, the joker points to wherever the spectators card is located - even when he’s moved away from the deck. Eric Jones breathes life into the deck’s mysterious gentleman.

Angle Z... While Madison devotes a whole DVD to Angle Z- here, this is the incredible Gaff System Version. The corner of a card is ripped off and then gently balanced on the card’s back. Slowly the card is tilted - with the corner defying gravity, staying stuck to the card. Not just stuck - melted.

Half Vanish... Like an Erdnase Change in slow-motion. An out-jogged card slowly vanishes from the deck, visibly dissolving through the top card in the deck, until it’s completely invisible. A gorgeous piece of magic.

Magnify... A picture is taken of a face-up card with a smart phone, and then zoomed in with a tap. When the phone is taken away from the deck the card itself is seen to have zoomed in as well. With a pinch on the deck, it changes back to regular size.

Peek Box... Daniel Madison exposes a trick gamblers use to peek the bottom card of the deck - a rip in the tuck box shows the index. However when a spectator’s card is involved, things don’t go the way you’d expect. A baffling trick hidden in a gambling demonstration.

Bonuses

Immaculate Reconnect... Adam Wilber teaches his ending for Paul Harris’s ‘Immaculate Connection’ - the centers of three ripped cards used in the effect melt back into the torn cards - only, the wrong centres are used. An unexpected kicker to an awesome effect that leaves the spectators with an impossible object. Also contains thoughts and handling from Michael Weber.

Aquafina... To round out the Gaff System, Adam Wilber teaches a ‘Card to Bottle’ effect that doesn’t go as planned. The label on a water bottle is peeled off to reveal the spectator’s chosen card.

The Gaff Deck and Two Disc DVD Set is currently only available together as package - allowing you to save $15 off the normal price of the Deck and DVD separately. Extra Gaff Decks will be available in 2014 if you need replacements. We've also made a full deck of Angle Z cards available - as it is an effect that's strongest when you hand the card out.

Add the Gaff System to your cart today.

Special Note: While there are one or two effects in the system that use only one card - the majority do require the use of one of the Artifice Decks in conjunction with a the Gaff Cards. Be sure to stock up on Artifice: Cobalt Blue, Emerald Green and Tundra Decks before you check out - or add all three to your cart in a 3-Deck Sample Pack and get a free Deck on the house.

<![CDATA[Madison Gamblers]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/madison-gamblers.html Gamblers Gaffs have been created for demonstrations of seriously advanced sleight of hand for any performer. They won't create a brilliant presentation for you, but, slipped in occasionally to a demonstration they will allow a few minds to be shattered. Especially those who watch with a knowing eye.

We recognize that there are sleight of hand purists who may say that a gambling demonstration should be something achieved with a standard deck of cards and pure skill. If that’s your belief then we invite you to start on Disc 2 of this set. You can hear what Alex Pandrea, Brad Christian, Tony Chang, and many others have to say about it.

When method is put as the priority of the performance, at the expense of the audience’s perception, then you have missed the point of performance. What matters is what is perceived by the audience.

Perception is Reality - or in the words of Daniel Madison, "If there's a deck that makes a move ten times easier, and it makes me look ten times better, then you're damn right I'm going to use cards like this…"

A Note from Daniel Madison

Of all of the things that can be achieved by difficult sleight-of-hand, when taken out of their intended purposes for the sake of demonstration or performance, there is a fine line between actual and pseudo executions.

Over the years I have collected ideas on how to achieve near-impossible sleights without the necessary work, simply for the sake of demonstrations and pseudo exposure. Some of these ideas are methods disguised as other methods, and the others, are gaff playing cards that are never seen by the onlooker. Those ideas became the Madison Gamblers.

People may argue that gambling is an art form of intricate and difficult sleight-of-hand, and that demonstrations should be truthful, and I would agree, however, gambling was not made to be exposed or demonstrated and so exposure of gambling has itself become a new art, constantly demonstrated by people, most of whom have never played a game of cards let alone executed an illegal move at one.

The Madison Gamblers are for the demonstrators, for those who want to showcase an intricate skill in order to make their exposures far better and far more believable. They are under the radar, they will never be seen, and with these, your reputation as a gambler will reach great new heights.

The Deck.

The Effects.

Dice - The only gaff in the entire deck that stands out as a ‘gimmicked card’. A standard die transforms into a paper die in the action of being thrown. When unfolded, the die’s construction paper turns out to be a previously selected card.

2 Card Monty - Utility cards that allow for the performance of the myriad of Two and Three Card Monte effects that abound. Daniel teaches his handling for both a tabled and in-the-hands version.

BlackJack - A truly phenomenal demonstration that combines center dealing two cards from different places in the deck in a single deal, with an invisible palm and muck/switch. Deal yourself the perfect blackjack hand (almost) every time.

Replacement Ace - A game of poker is dealt to the number of hands named by a spectator. While the spectator receives a very strong hand, they are of course beaten by the performer. A fact predetermined by the writing on the Ace of Spades.

Replacement Joker - The same basic effect as Replacement Ace, only this time the spectator is accidentally dealt a joker as part of their hand - a card which they obviously discard. The effect is possibly stronger, given the writing was in front of the spectator the entire time.

The Poker Lesson - A Sam-the-Bellhop style of effect that makes sense in a gambling demonstration, teaching the ranking of poker hands to a spectator. The method for this effect also opens itself to memory recall presentations, included but not limited to card at any number.

Stolen Card - A card is chosen and returned to the deck. The performer deals a poker hand to the table, and confirms with the spectator that their card is amongst those dealt. In the act of squaring the pack, the chosen card is stolen invisibly, to be dealt from the pack whenever the performer decides.

Straight Switch - The performer attempts to demonstrate crooked dealing, aiming for a straight poker hand, however misses completely. The hand is squared, and invisibly switched for the correct cards - the named straight now in the performers hand.

Royal Switch - Similar to the Straight Switch, the performer misses dealing the winning hand. With a switch, he swaps the incorrect cards for the Royal Flush - the incorrect cards being returned invisibly to the top of the pack.

Cut Card i - A utility cut card that supposedly makes bottom dealing impossible. As this card is printed on card stock, it is easy to manipulate. Daniel shows how he uses it to Greek Deal the four Aces, and how to apparently prove you have a photographic memory.

Cut Card ii - Daniel demonstrates a number of ways to use the cut card as a stab card to present a prediction effect, a switch or a center deal with an indicated card.

Cut Card iii - An idea from Mark Calabrese. The cut card is placed on top of the face up deck. In a move that beggars belief, the card below the cut card is topshot from beneath the cut card into the hand. This effect will have your audience doing repeated double takes. Daniel also teaches a method that allows you to vanish a single card from under the cut card in the hands.

Center Deal - Four Aces are placed face up in separate places throughout the face-down deck. The deck is spread both Face Up and Face Down to show the position of the cards. Cleanly and fairly, the four aces are dealt, one at a time, from their respective places in the deck. The deck is spread to show the aces have indeed been dealt cleanly, and that there are no duplicates.

Middle Deal - The four aces are dealt from the top of the deck to the table, before being put face down into separate positions throughout the facedown deck. Again, they are dealt fairly to the table - each having come from the middle of the deck. The deck is spread to verify they have truly been dealt.

The Discussion.

The Teacher

The Artist

The Worker

 The Move Monkey

In disc two of Gamblers, Daniel sits down with modern magic professionals - each with their own individual style - to discuss the psychology of gaffed card use, and how unseen gaffs can - and should - be used to enhanced demonstrations of cheating at the card table.

Nearly an hour of in-depth interviews with Brad Christian, Peter McKinnon, Adam Wilber, Tony Chang, Mark Calabrese, Alex Pandrea and Tobias Dostal make this a project unlike any other. When you watch this DVD, take a notepad. These men will have you thinking more strategically about your magic - and your audiences will thank you for it.

<![CDATA[Laura London Card in Bottle]]> http://www.ellusionist.com/laura-london-card-in-bottle.html

A card is selected and signed by the spectator. The spectator replaces the card anywhere in the deck and shuffles the deck themselves. The deck is spread on the table and the spectator verifies their card is still in the stack.

The deck is picked up and INSTANTLY smacked against the bottom of an empty bottle -- BAM! Their signed card has penetrated through the bottom of the bottle in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment. The card-in-bottle can now be given out as a souvenir.

Fast List

 • • Card is Signed by Spectator
 • • Card is genuinely lost in the deck - No sleight of hand required
 • • Spectator can shuffle the cards themselves
 • • Spectator verifies the card is still in the deck
 • • Card appears instantly - VISUALLY - in the bottle
 • • Both Gimmicked and Ungimmicked versions taught.

Laura teaches two versions - gimmicked and non-gimmicked, as well as multiple presentation ideas. The gimmicked version makes practicing much easier and leaves the spectator with a clean, better looking, impossible souvenir.
