In Metal 4 Eric Jones uses Jamie Schoolcraft OXF coins which sell for around $250, but we wanted to give an affordable, practical solution at Ellusionist.

We've commissioned master coin-smith, Roy Kueppers, to do a version of OXF that we use actually ourselves.

"I also use my magnetic flipper from the OXF set for 'coin through t-shirt' too, so I don't need to buy or carry more gaff coins. It does it all."

- Geraint Clarke, CEO of Ellusionist

Fantastic quality for the price

Wanted to pick one of these up years ago and finally got around to it. The quality is very nice for the price. As stated in the comments of another review, the new version has matching dates on the flipper, shell, and dupe real coin. The shim shell holds to the magnet very lightly so it lifts off pretty easily but will hold onto the flipper without issue when tossed in the hand. The flipper uses a band, but it comes with a spare and while I'm not 100% sure what the material is it doesn't look or feel like a rubber band (possibly silicon?). Either way, it doesn't feel like it would break unless you outright pulled on it. I'm sure the Schoolcraft version is a higher quality, but its twice as expensive as this one for the Kennedy Half Dollar version (and its often sold out). I would say most magicians would be able to work with this version easily so unless you have the money to spare for the more expensive version or are trying to make sure it holds up to the scrutiny of other magicians I would highly recommend this one.

The James Bond of coin sets

I have wanted the OXF set for a long time - since purchasing the Metal downloads by Eric Jones (also highly recommended). Ellusionist made the set affordable without sacrificing quality. Could not be happier. Thank you, Ellusionist.

Summary

I feel like they could be a little better quality and when the shell is over another coin , you can kind of make out that its a shell.

I guess it depends on if you know what to look for. A spectator probably wouldnt notice it.

Also , ive never had an oxf set or a coin shell set , so that might just be how they are.

Overall im happy with the purchase and would recommend as a great quality cheaper set.

Probably the best quality cheaper set you can buy.

Summary

Got this with Metal 4 and it was worth it 100%. Very easy to open, unlike Tango flippers that you have almost whip open. And the shell is rrreeeeaaaaalllyyyyyy deep. When the flipper is nested in the shell it?s barely noticeable. WORTH EVERY PENNY

Summary

So, at this price I'm going to be a little picky. The expanded shell has a different date than the flipper shell - I've gotten sets where they match. Secondly, there is a slight edge around the flipper shell when closed, such that the coin feels a bit odd/different to the touch. If you rub your finger outward towards the edge of the coin, there's a sharp protrusion all the way around, which might prompt someone who's handling the coin to suspect that it's a gimmick and have a closer look.

Just wanted to publicly reply and thank you for your review & purchase 5 years ago.

We take quality very seriously, so in this NEW batch (2024), we've made them magnetic and solved the date problem.

Should yours not be up to standards, we're more than happy to replace. You can always get in touch with our support team, get it sent back to our warehouse and we'll send you a new one.
